THE NEW CRAFT OF FILM PRODUCTION
by Juan Pablo Ortiz
The New Craft of film Production is a research work that deals with the phenomenon of the use of desktop computer technology in film production. Its final product is a proposal for a museum exhibition that illustrates --through the use of a series of case studies-- the various ways in which the advent of digital software tools are affecting traditional techniques and processes, therefore causing the emergence of a new --hybrid-- craft.

The proposal includes two main elements: The first one is the conceptual foundation of the exhibition and its contents. The second one is the definition of interactive design principles and the development of a user experience scenario. In addition, the project involves the development of a working prototype of an interactive experience.

Real Life Testing: Participation in ITP Spring Show 2003
After the prototype was developed, I had the opportunity to test it in a gallery-like space, at the ITP end-of-semester show.
